Exploring and Creative controls

Abstraction: In my opinion abstraction is odd, it’s a picture that doesn’t necessarly flow but still has depth and meaning. It’s more freedom and not unified but moreso blotches instead of straight lines. When I think of abstraction in dance it’s weird angles in a body or a  flexed foot. 

Meaning of abstraction in photography ( I really like the way this was phrased): “Like abstract art, abstract photography concentrates on shape, form, colour, pattern and texture. The viewer is often unable to see the whole object. The subject of the photo is often only a small part of the idea of the image. Viewers may only know the essence of the image subject or understand it by what is implied.”

Using Creative Controls- Motion

For these two photos I looked up Slow Motion and got these two different scenarios. Though I think both photos are beautiful, I really like the one that captures the dancer with her arms and legs still moving. One of them you can see how the dancer moved across the floor but the picture got her pretty clear. Another, the picture looks almost alien like, with arms and legs all over… these two photographers were both taking picture of dancers just one ended up sharper then the other. 
  Visually both are beautiful in different way but for slow motion I really like the first picture I think it captures an element of mystery and grace.

 

Definition of a tryptych; “ A work, such as an altarpiece, consisting of three painted or carved panels that are inged together.”  The next three pictures are either freeze or stop motion demonstrating this.

I really love this one, the picture presents and eerie mood and the water looks like smoke. 

First Project Final Prints

These are my final photos from my project. Though on two of them I have to rematt for my final porfolio, I really like how some turned out, for my first time. I enjoy the black and white aspect and learning how to use different filters was really cool in helping to enhance the photos. Overall, my favorite photo is my dog or the flowes ( I like how one is focused and the others are blurry) though sadly my flower photo has tears in it. The two photos I would like to use for a final portfolio  are the dog and tree picture.

Palmer turned out as a surprise for me. I had no idea if  the negative would even look good and it’s my favorite photo. I like the texture of his fur in comparison to the carpet and the slight shadows the photos has. I also  believe the filter made the photo. At first the negative seemed very dark but with the filter of a 2 or 3 it lightened the photo and added contrast. 

For this photo, the branch goes side and I tried two filters but this was my favorite. I like the fact that the branch gets darkers and starts fading and on thefar right side you can see the leafs falling lightly. 

I really like this photo also though it turned out blurry.  I think its cool how the darker cloud and tree almost connect giving the whole photo an eerie, storm vibe. 

This photo turned out to be one of my favorites,  but sadly it won’t work for a final. I like just the way the picture was taken and the concept that even if somethings dead it does’t mean it’s not beautiful. 

Photography3-4 Project 2 Angles, Elements and Filters- Filter Test

After developing my first roll of film, I learned how to develop my negatives and put the negatives in to a contact sheet. Then, Ms. Abens and I picked a negatvie and I did small prints on that picture learning how to put it in the enlarger and focus the picture. After I took my first pircture with no filter I then added 1,2,3,4, and 5. All  these pictures below were taken with an F 11 Aperature for 5 second. Down below is my filter sheet, personally my favorite picture was with filter 2 or 3 due to the contrast and how it lightened the photo but still showed depth.

The picture I took sadly has teras in the film though I really like the negative. One flower is more in focused then the other and I like the way the picture was taken of the flower. Though it’s dead it looks pretty and peaceful. 

First Roll Of Film

This is my first roll of fim contact sheet. Although,  I did it twice so that one sheet was lighter than the other. From they’re the one that is circled (with sharpie) I will enlarge and do several filter test to get more comfortable with the enlarger and see how that process works, and then I’ll pick a final image and add a filter to it.
