Project 4 Balance and Contrast Part Two

This assignment we first made diptychs and triptychs of our images that represented contrast and/ or  balance in one way or another. For my photos, you can see contrast in elements, scale and texture.  After we did this, we made unique kaleidoscopes with these images. We edited them the way we thought the images would look the best. Kaleidoscopes are interesting because you can use dramatic filters and edits.

Triptych
This triptych shows the continuous stages of a close up airplane motor. My original photo is the first one with minor edits. Form there I zoomed in so you get half the image. The bottom of the second image is a little blurry due to the wing.  The third is just part of the motor and you can see  some of the lines of symmetry that surround the photo.  For all photos I enhanced the black and clarity. Overall I really like this photo and how it has an antique feel to it.

Diptych Contrast in Elements
For this I used a contrast in elements using my photos of fire and water.  I edited by making the flame a little brighter orange and the ocean lighter to give it a colder feeling. I kept the wood to also show a contrast in texture between the fire and wood. This image really appeals to me and I like how the flames almost get cut off by the water.
Triptych Contrast in Scale
For this photo I used Abigail's face and zoomed in twice to get a triptych. I edited the photo making it black and white so the pictures work smoothly together. I brightened the color of teeth and her eye to make it stand out.  This photo shows different stages of scale in and I enjoy that.

Diptych Contrast in Scale
This is another photo with contrast in scale. I took a photo of window washers because I thought it was really cool and also it scared me.  They were so high up on the building! I edited this photo by zooming into the building and then once again to get a close up. I increased the blacks in the photo to get a clearer quality.  For both images I connected the lines so that you can't tell their two separate pictures.  This picture almost fools your eyes and you can't tell where the second image starts.

For these two kaleidoscopes that you see ( the blue and orange) I used the same photo but, changed the filter.  I really loved both these photos and I couldn't decide which one to post so I decided to post both. Like my ocean and fire picture this one shows fire and ice these two photos contrast. The image the kaleidoscope made I thought was very interesting. ( On my computer Photoshop wouldn't open and so I Couldn't get the line in the middle to go away)
This was actually a picture of a square with couple lines through it. I really loved how it changed dramatically to this abstract image. I enhanced the colors in the photo and made the background a pinkish color instead of white. I like how the photo doesn't fill up all the space and leaves some empty space because it's different then the other kaleidoscopes I have.

These two photos ( the blue and purple) are the same images just flipped and edited differently. I really loved how the purple photo gets darker in the middle and lighter on the outside.  This is actually a picture of a couple trees and how it changed from the original is really cool.  For both of them, I feel it looks almost like a web and gives off a mystery feel.

This photo is fascinating you can't really tell what it is and that works in its benefit. I like the colors in this photo the greens and yellow make it bright. This one is different then all my other photos. I brightened the picture and brought up the yellow. In the middle is actually grass with leaves and it makes a really unique design.

Balance and Contrast

Contrast in Texture
This is a picture  I took over the break is of a fire. It shows contrast in texture because of the difference between the wood and the flame.  I brightened the picture and deepened the orange/red to have more vibrance in the photo.

Symmetry/ Radial Balance
This is a photo of an airplane motor. It shows radial balance as well as symmetry. The wing is a little blurry since it's moving around. I cropped the photo as well as changing the color.
Contrast In Scale
Though this picture isn't my best, I do really like it. This shows a dramatic contrast in scale. and the filter I choose is very evident I love how the leaves look. It reminds me of fall. I just feel like from this picture you can really tell what season it is.

Asymmetry
This photo I choose for being asymmetrical even though it is pretty symmetrical. If you cut this down the middle it isn't the exact same. I blurred the photo and made the top darker and the bottom lighter. The leafs in the background are white making it seem like it almost just snowed. I took this photo on the field trip and it really stuck out to me as being odd, I think that is why I really like it.

Project Three Color and Grids

Mood
This photo is the image I used to represent mood. What I wanted was a picture that more so had a dark and scary mood. I asked my sister to sit by our stairs and look scared. After taking several photos with her doing different positions I decided on one that was just her sitting looking out. I wanted this to represent hopefulness. To make this photo express the mood I wanted, I changed it so it was black and white. After changing the color I brightened it so that the image was still visible, yet dark. Overall the mood I was trying to portray would be someone scared, sad and lonely and a cold feeling.
Color Complements
The two colors I used to complement each other were red and green.  The green flower used to be white and was actually on a lilly-pad. I zoomed into the photo and changed the temperature to give it a green color and then intensified the tint. The red Daisy used to be a darker red and I brightened it. I cropped the photo an duplicated both to create this image. The mood of this photo is bright and happy and I tried to show that through my colors.

My Choice
This photo was actually of the sunset. When I took it their was a branch in the view and I thought it looked very cool to have  the light sky and a darker tree branch. For this photo I cropped the whole bottom half. I also brightened the colors to show a contrast in the photo. To make the grid I copied the photo and changed the positions around. I also took two pictures of the sunset and combined them so each section has two pictures. I choose this picture because I really like the colors and the leaves in it. I think it gives off an optimistic feel.

Color Harmonies
This photo is also of a sunset. To create these images I changed the temperature and tint tell I reached the color that I thought best benefited the photo. I started off with a grayish tone and went all the way up to yellow. I feel that these images all work together really well and create a nice variety of color.
Monocrome Grid
For this grid, I used two different flowers in a variety of angles and positions to create a unique picture. I cropped some images and zoomed in on others. I used black and white to make these images more uniformed and changes the brightness. On most of the flowers I made the petals have high clarity to contrast with the stem. Overall I wanted this photo to look uniformed even with the different pictures.

Photo that sets the Mood or Tone

I feel this image really captures the mood of the photo. It exaggerates the colors and makes them very prominent in the picture. The colors shift from cold to warm colors giving it an almost scary feeling. The photographer really enhanced the photo and darkened the roller coaster, making the subject stick out. Also, the colors on the roller coaster are complimented by being yellow and purple giving that part of the photo a calm feeling. I feel the photographer used this photo to set a mood of mystery and gave it an erie feeling.  I also really like how the roller coaster is illuminated by the sunset, and the roller coaster in the left bottom corner gives it a sense of depth. Overall I feel the photographer was trying to capture mystery and it feels like it was captured right before the drop making you have a feeling of anxiety.

Project One

For this project we had to photograph about thirty pictures or more of two different subjects. We then had to choose the top fifteen. After editing all them choose the top three of each subject. This project is supposed to get us to use our cameras, and learn more about how to shoot as well as editing.  The two subjects I took pictures of were the Pioneer Courthouse Square Building and my dog, Palmer.

Before:
For this photo I experimented with a black and white filter as well as little brightness. I gave it a more older feel. I kept the people in the picture to show how everyone is going about their business and I just took a quick picture of a moment in time.

Before:

This picture is once again black and white. I took a different angle of the building but still tried to incorporate something else in the picture which is the tree. The setting almost makes it look like the evening instead of the morning which I also like. I used barley any brightness and I cropped the picture.

Before:
For this photo I used some light and other cool filters.  It's a straight view of the building but as you can tell from one end to the other the light changes. The tree is once again in it but it's very subtle in comparison to the building. I really like the architecture that is seen is this picture as well as the contrast.

Before:
This is my dog Palmer. This picture is at a cool angle taken from the ground. I filtered it so it was black and white. I like how his paw is almost the biggest thing on the page. As wells as how most of his body is cropped out.

Before:
For this picture I kept it almost the same as the  original. I added some light to it but, besides that it's around the same. I cropped it so it's more  of a rectangle frame. One of the reasons I choose this picture was because of how well you can see his different color fur.

Before:
I used a darker filter so that my dog had more contrast with the room. I choose this picture because I really like his posture. I also cropped some of the room out but, I also left some of the wall and floor because I  felt like it was a good contrast.

Summer lovin

This summer was full of warm weather, water, tanning, and friends. I went to the beach a lot with my family and got to spend some good time with them. Our beach house is near the ocean but surrounded by a lot of tress and a lake. I love taking pictures their. I also danced a lot this summer as well as just sat on the couch and read. Carly and I celebrated our 16th birthday which was cool. Overall the summer was a blast and went by way to fast!
